College Architect is an upcoming indie and simulation game that has been in development since October 2025, recently been transitioning internally to a different framework since May 2026. The project has been available to wish list on steam since September 2026.
Python Project
Did you know that this project was originally built in Python 3.12 with PyGame?
College Architect, wasn’t actually originally a college building game, in fact, it wasn’t even related. It started off as a concept project for shooting mechanics, like a 2d topdown shooting game, where you would take control of a player, while NPCs would attack you. Though this concept was eventually changed about a week later to what it became known as today, a college campus building game.
The game was eventually completed enough to showcase as a final project in a College Course. At the time, you couldn’t do much, but some common elements were still seen:
- You could zone specific parts of the map
- You could build walls and construct floors
- You could see delivery trucks
- Students and Professors existed
By 2026, some more features were also added, though in small quanitites:
- Revamped User Interface
- NPC Schedules
- More Unique Student Appearances (rather than 1 universal Clothing color)
Transition
Then, by May 2026, with Roblox introducing an expensive way of publishing to all ages, the studio decided that it would be better to build off of this original project, rather than work on Bloxville. From there, we saw a new project, Collegeria, which was and still is our internal working name for the project. The project actually started on May 27th, 2026, and being inspired by that college professor to make it even better, we are here.
Steam Game
Then, by July 2026, I have decided it was time, for one, I needed to learn how to distribute my content on Steam, which required some extensive requirements, but at least it was far cheaper than what Roblox had.
We got the approval on July 23rd, 2026, to begin work on integrating Collegeria with Steam. Though, it took us about 2 months before it was made public.
We stand nearly 3 months later, with the majority of gameplay mechanics from the original python project, being already integrated into this masterpiece.
